Tell Me Why Your Blog Should be on my Short List

Date December 12, 2007

My Google Reader feels like a yard that’s been overcome by large weeds and kudzu.

I’m subscribed to alot of blogs in order to develop the weekly online quotes list. But this has had an unfortunate consequence - I don’t have time to participate in them all, and it’s a bit of killjoy for this Social media fanatic.

So i’ve decided to create a short list of blogs that I truly read and savor.

The question is: Should Yours be on it?

Leave a comment and I’ll put your blog on my short list. Write great blog posts and you stay on the list.

There are some blogs I’ve already got on the list. I’m giving roses to the following bachelors and bachelorettes:

- Donna Fontenot’s Dazzlin’ Donna blog
- Pat Doyle
- E-Marketing Performance, the staff blog of Pole Position Marketing
- Marty Weintraub’s aimClear blog
- Matthew Sherborne’s Marketing Strategy
- Joanna Young’s Confident Writing
- Matt Keegan’s The Article Writer Blog
- Katie’s Cheesy Marketing Ramblings
- Steven Bradley’s TheVanBlog
- Steven Snell’s Vandelay Website Design Blog
- Matt J McDonald’s A New Marketing
- Valeria Maltoni’s Conversation Agent
- Copyblogger
- Ignite Social Media
- PR. Differently

I hate making lists like this, for fear of forgetting someone who’s really participated. But I didn’t want to make people leave comments who’ve been great to me off-blog.

So leave a comment, and remind or tell me to put your blog on the short list!

    Nathania,
You write an excllent blog, and the weekly quotes is the reason I started reading. I write Blog on Wiki Patterns (http://www.ikiw.org), which focuses on wiki adoption and collaboration in organizations, social media, and enterprise 2.0.

Thanks for the roses Nathania! I promise to try and keep writing great stuff so I stay on your list :-)

I also have a separation between blogs that I follow for ideas, quotes, links, content and those that I will determinedly visit and join in. If I don’t spend the time in the comment boxes the whole thing ends up feeling… kind of empty and futile. It’s good to keep it social.

Honored, Nathania, this is truly great company! Thank you for the roses and for the work you put into compiling your weekly selections. Some of the best conversations happens in between blogs, too. When people discover common ground and draw inspiration from the result of a connection.

Thanks, Nathania!! I accept the rose, and I’m honored to be on your short list. You have some great blogs on your list. I will definitely check out the ones I’m not familiar with - I’m sure I’ll like them too. :)

@ Stoney, Pat, Valeria and Joanna, thank you so much for your virtual friendship.

@ Stewart, thanks for letting me know about your blog. I don’t know much about wikis, and I look forward to learning more. Consider your blog added to the short list!

I am sincerely flattered to be included in such company. Thanks for reading and I hope my upcoming move to a “real” URL home (eek!) will do this rose justice! :)

    Nathania,

We are truly honored to receive the rose and, while I comment on behalf of Ignite Social Media, I do know that Lisa’s posts are the reason we got the rose more than mine. Alas, I shall work harder!

    Seriously, though, thanks. It’s mutual.

    Nathania,

So honored to be on the list, not to mention have Jim respond like he did :-) Ha ha, he’s sad because he’s been checking our analytics lately…

Anyway I’d like to officially nominate your blog for the list :-) I read it religiously and it shouldn’t be left out !

I’m honored to be on your list! I feel a little awkward though as my blogosphere participation has dropped this month. Between the holidays and year end planning, I’m maxed out! I promise to be a better lurker come January though.

    Hi Nathania!
You’ve published a few quotes of mine from my expert blog at internetbased moms.com. Well….I’ve just launced a new site called www.directsellingleaders.com which is a community of expert bloggers specifically targeted to leaders in the direct selling industry. I am the Innovation Expert and we also have a Free Publicity Expert, a Profitability Expert, a Tax Expert - and several others.

I would love to make your short list!

    Warmly,
    Sarah Robinson

Thanks for keeping me on your short list Nathania. I know how you feel. I’ve been adding so many blogs to my reader the last few months that it’s become impossible to read them all.

One thing I’m trying to do is organize them better so the ones that post more frequently stay at the top and those that don’t update nearly as much get moved further down. I’m also trying to be more discerning in which posts I read and which I just skip over.

I’ve also noticed lately that of all the blogs I’m subscribed to there are only a handful I actually look forward to reading. And of course Bold Interactive makes my short list too.
