A Little Less Talk and A Lot More Action

Date November 28, 2007

The Royal Bank of Scotland has a brilliant commercial about taking action. I love this. Talk Less. Act More!

Less talk, more action? Wouldn’t that philosophy spell doom for bloggers? As a writer, it’s my job to pose the obvious question: “But what does it MEAN?” Brand-building tactics aside, this ad nonchanlantly points a finger at the elephant in the corner…in the very room where ‘more talk’ lives and breeds. But what does any of this have to do with banking?

Actually, no, it would not spell doom for bloggers. Writing is an action and blogging is an action.

If all you do is talk about writing, but don’t actually write - then you’re not really a writer.

If you talk about blogging, but don’t blog - then you’re not a very good blogger.

If you talk about customer service but don’t deliver, you’re not a good company. That’s how it applies to banking.
