Be Bold: Borders and Walmart

I’ve had a crazy, long, non-stop day. So I have two short snippets about companies being bold.
The first is Borders. About six months ago, they announced they were partnering with social media network Gather.com. They caught a lot of flack for that.
Sales have increased. Take that, detractors!
A combo package of social media and e-newsletters has helped increase the conversation with their audience. Their success is a no brainer.
The second snippet is that Walmart is (finally) adding user reviews to their web site. Walmart gets a lot of crap from a lot of people for a lot of reasons. Now they’re opening themselves up to reviews? Like them (I do) or not, this is BOLD, people.
